Defining Manufacturing Features and Text Power Copy Creation

You can create manufacturing features and catalogs to store them to.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Log into 3DEXPERIENCE with role: Owner.
Note: Except for an Outer Contour power copy, all other power-copies can have only single Manufacturing feature.

Creating Manufacturing Features

You can create manufacturing features.

Before you begin: Log into 3DEXPERIENCE with role: Owner.

  1. Open your data in Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication.
  2. In the Authoring section of the action bar, click Create Outer Contour & BSU Feature .
    The Outer Contour panel appears.
  3. Select a plate product and click OK.
    The outer contour feature creates. It appears in the tree and displays on the selected plate in the work area.

Creating User-Defined Text

You can create text nodes that appear in the tree.

  1. In the Authoring section of the action bar, click User Defined Text .
    The Text Definition panel appears.
  2. Select a product that has burn side up and outer contour features.
    The selected product appears as the Target Product in the Text Definition Panel.
  3. Click the Object Type from the list.
    All PLM level attributes defined for the selected object type appear in the Attributes list.
  4. Click the required attributes from the list.
  5. Click OK.
    Text nodes for the selected attributes appear in the tree.

Power Copy Creation

You can use the 3D Templates Capture app to create power copies of manufacturing features. This has only one Manufacturing feature in the Power-copy definition.

  1. From the Compass, click 3D Modeling Apps and select 3D Templates Capture.
  2. In the Manage Templates section of the action bar, click Power Copy .
    The Power Copy Definition panel appears.
  3. In the tree, select the annotation group, outer contour, and burn side up.
  4. Click OK.
    The power copy creates.

Creating a Power Copy Catalog

You can create a catalog of manufacturing features.

  1. In the top bar, click Add and select Content.
    The New Content panel appears.
  2. Type catalog in the search window and press Enter.
    A list of types displays that matches your search criteria.
  3. Click Catalog from the list.
    A new catalog appears in the tree.
  4. In the tree, right-click the catalog and select Properties.
    The Properties panel appears.
  5. Enter a descriptive name for the new catalog and click OK.
  6. In the tree, right-click the catalog and select Insert > New Chapter.
    The Catalog Chapter panel appears.
  7. Enter a descriptive name for the new chapter and press Enter.
    The new chapter appears in the tree.
  8. Assign a ResourceIdentifier keyword to each chapter.
    1. Right-click a chapter in the tree and select Chapter > Manage Keywords.
    2. Click Add Keyword .
    3. Enter the name as ResourceIdentifier.
    4. Select the type as String, enter the value, and click Add Keyword .
      The following table shows the resource identifier values for chapters, and this chapter creates under a dedicated chapter. Refer to Predefined Resource Identifiers for Catalog for more information.

  9. Right-click CuttingContour chapter and select Insert > Insert Existing Object.
  10. Click the tab where you have the admin products. Select BSU_Prd in the tree.
    Outer Contour is added to the CuttingContour chapter.
  11. Modify the ResourceIdentifier value of BSU_PRD to MfgRsc_CuttingContour.
    By default, the keyword of the child node inherits from the parent chapter.
