Using Part Planning for Weld Fasten Processes

You can automatically generate fastening processes based on the EBOM and generated MBOM.

Manufacturing Representation for Fasteners through Part Planning

You can create weld planning from a manufacturing assembly.

  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Part Planning .
    The Part Planning panel appears.
  2. Select the root manufacturing assembly.
  3. Click OK.
    Part planning is performed and the manufacturing representation for fasten processes are creates. Selecting Update IPM, then manufacturing features are generated.

Displaying the Connected Processes of the Weld

You can update the IPM of the fasten process to view the connected processes of any weld by selecting the required fasten process in the specification tree. The connected processes of the fasten process is displayed in the auxiliary viewer.

Select a fasten process in the specification tree, the connected objects are displayed in the auxiliary viewer.



The connected objects are displayed when Local Mode is clicked in Display in the Auxiliary Viewer.

Designing a Chamfer in Edge Preparation Features

You can create a chamfer when two plates (of the same panel) of different thicknesses to weld together and there is a sharp step at the connection. In this case, the chamfer needs generating at the sharp step. This enhances the productivity by providing new information of the edge preparation with chamfer, which exposes chamfer attributes for fabrication needs. The information for the chamfer reads from the SDD model.

  1. Click Update IPM.



    The edge prep generates during the update IPM. Chamfer information adds based on edge prep creation if the chamfer exists.

  2. Click Edit Feature.
    Chamfer information is added when edge prep is generated from the Edit Feature.
  3. Click Synchronize manager.

    Chamfer information is added when edge prep is generated in the Synchronize manager.





    The chamfer text information contains Chamfer abbreviations, which occur in the first parameter and a second parameter. The chamfer generates based on some types. Types of chamfers:

    • Length1 / Angle (ex. "/ C L10_A45")
    • Length1 / Length2 (ex. "/ C L8_L38")
    • Chordal Length / Angle (ex. "/ C CL10_A45")
    • Height / Angle (ex. "/ C H20_A45")

    If the chamfer is existing in split plate.1, then the chamfer information adds in the corresponding edge, before split plate.1 only, not split plate.2 and panel level.

    Plate XML and drawings also have chamfer information, which includes the edge prep text.

    The outer contour generates to fit the chamfer shape.
