Create Initial Conditions

Activating Create Initial Conditions, selecting a manikin from the work area or in the Product Tree to start in the case of a Human Interaction.

You can select: Position, IK Behaviors, Angular Limitations, Preferred Angles, Posture - Full body, Skill Based Chain Segments, Selected Chain segments which are: Right arm, Left arm, Right hand fingers, Left hand fingers, Right Leg, Left leg, Truck with pelvis, Head with line of sight. Then select Start Preview to show.

If there are settings already saved before starting the command, they apply on the selected manikin and then confirm at the same time as the panel opens. For example, if the IK Behavior and the posture of the specified segments in the list has initial conditions, they load temporarily on the selected manikin.

This panel allows you to specify (or modify) and store the options for the posture and other manikin settings like the position, the IK Behaviors, and the Angular Limitations. For the posture, there is a choice of three options that represents the segments on which the posture applies:

  • Full body segments.
  • Skill-based segments chain involved in the IK solving chain (depending on and defined in the IK behaviors settings).
  • The specific segments chain selects the list.

Finishing the settings, you can always verify the resulting posture (posture get after solving the IK) by pressing the Start Preview. The resulting posture is displayed in a Preview window. Pressing again the updates the window. This window can be closed either by clicking the X at the upper right or on the Initial Conditions panel's OK.

The posture and the other confirmed settings of the selected manikin are automatically saved when pressing OK. The selected manikin has all the required settings (and if it is not the case, then you have to modify it) before pressing OK. This closes the Initial Conditions panel and the Preview panel if this latest panel does not close.

Whenever you click OK or Cancel or you clear a setting, the manikin gets back to the settings (including the posture) it had before launching the Initial Conditions command.

In an activity in Ergonomics Evaluation, the command also opens the Manikin Posture bar.
