Tool Collision Checking

You can detect and display the tool path points where the collision with the non-revolving tool and the part occurs.

If the Global Collisions Checking is activated in the Part Operation it is now effective in the Lathe Machining Operation. This takes into account the rotation of the part around the revolution axis. The non-revolving tool contains a tool and a potential tool holder and includes a lathe tool adaptor.

No collision is found between the tool and the part.

The length of the tool is shorter and collisions are found between the tool and the part.

Tool path points and segments where collisions occur are displayed in red in the tool path replay. The interference between the tool and the part is not shown for lathe tools.

Machine Head collision checking is an option in the Part Operation because it can have an impact on performance depending on the Machine Head complexity and the size of the tool path.

If a Machine Head is defined and if the option in the Part Operation is active, the global collisions checking controls the collisions between the Machine Head elements and the Part during tool motions. The machine kinematics is required and used to define the head position. If some tool path positions are not reachable, a message is displayed Collision checking is not complete due to some unreachable positions.

Tool path points and segments where collisions occur are displayed in red during the tool path replay and a message is displayed Collision with Machine head. The Machine Head is not displayed during the tool path replay so interference is not shown. This information is useful to quickly review the program before the final check in the machine simulation.

The collision between the Machine Head and the Part is obvious and is confirmed in the machine simulation.
