Editing an Area of a Tool Path

You can select an area of the tool path to copy or cut it.


Before you begin: Start the tool path editor as explained in Editing Tool Paths.
  1. Click Area Modification .
    Tip: As you move the pointer along the tool path, pickable points are shown as a black dot.
  2. Use the Selection commands to define the area to edit:

    Click Area Selection to set the default value of the selected areas: Before, In selected geometry or After, Out selected geometry, and the Cut destination.

    Your choice applies to the next selection.

    Select by one point: select one point of the tool path.
    Select by two points: select two point of the tool path.
    Select by contour: select an existing closed contour on the part.
    Select by polyline: pick on the part to create a polyline.
    Select collisions points: enter the check for collision parameters in the dialog box that appears.

  3. Click Swap to swap the selection. Click a second time to restore the original selection.
    If you had selected:
    • One point, the part of the tool path that is before the point is now selected
    • Two points, the part of the tool path that is outside the two points is now selected
    • A contour or a polyline, the part of the tool path that is outside the contour or the polyline is now selected.
  4. Click Cut to cut the selected area.
    in the Area Selection Option dialog box if Copy transformation is:
    • Not selected, the area of the tool path is deleted
    • Is selected, it is created in the Activities Process Tree, after the selected machining operation.
  5. To move a selected area, right-click its arrow and select a direction in the context menu. Drag the arrow to the required distance. Click Move .
