Replacing an Object in the MBOM

You can replace a manufactured item in the MBOM. This action automatically updates scope links and implement links associated with the object.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a structure with at least one child manufactured item, and open it in the Manufactured Items view of the dashboard.
Important: The parent manufactured item must be in a read-write maturity state. If not, select it and click Maturity from the Lifecycle section of the action bar.

Replace an Object with Its Latest Revision

You can replace a manufactured item with its latest revision from the database.

  1. From the Manufactured Items view, select a child manufactured item.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by Latest .

The selected manufactured item is replaced with its latest revision. Scope links and implement links are automatically updated.

Replace an Object with an Existing Object

You can replace a manufactured item with an existing one from the database.

  1. From the Manufactured Items view, select a child manufactured item.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by Existing .
  3. In the dialog box, enter the criteria for an existing manufactured item in the database and click Search.
  4. Select the desired manufactured item and click OK.

The manufactured item is replaced. Scope links and implement links associated with the original manufactured item are automatically updated.

Replace an Object with a New Revision

You can replace a manufactured item with a new revision that you create on the fly.

  1. From the Manufactured Items view, select a child manufactured item.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by New Revision .

A new revision is created and replaces the selected manufactured item. Scope links and implement links are automatically updated.
