Prerequisites for Creating a Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) for Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication

The two commands, Load Resulting Products and Compute/Update Resulting Products in the Authoring tab, are additional steps now used in the process of creating a Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM).

Load Resulting Products

Opening an MBOM session, the system does not load the Resulting Products associated with Manufacturing Parts (and assemblies). This improves the loading performance as the possible scenarios might not require the Resulting Products. For example, the generation of Manufacturing Assemblies and Manufactured Parts. However, for downstream apps like Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication the resulting product are mandatory to create.

The Load Resulting Products loads the Resulting Products that could have been created and saved in the previous session.

If no selection is active before the command executes, the command loads Resulting Products for the entire session. However, if any selection is active, the command loads Resulting Products only for the selected objects. The command does not seem to offer any feedback if or when the objects load.

Compute/Update Resulting Products

Generate MBOM is for creating the Manufacturing Items, but the corresponding resulting products are not generated (any longer) in this step. To create the Resulting Products, execute the Compute/Update Resulting Products .

If no selection is active before executing the command, it creates (or updates) Resulting Products for the entire session. However, if any selection is active, the command creates (or updates) Resulting Products only for the selected objects.

Using the New Commands

The usage of the commands may vary depending on the process step you may be in.

If creating a PPR session from scratch and Generate MBOM for the first time, it is enough to use Compute/Update Resulting Products .

If you open a session with existing data created earlier, then the session opens without loading the Resulting Products. In that case, it is suggested to execute Load Resulting Products to load all the Resulting Products created already in a previous session. Followed by Compute/Update Resulting Products to update them.

To verify the command results, verify if any of the newly created and loaded Resulting Products can open.

If this is the case, it is safe to switch to the Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication app and can continue work preparation.
