About User-Defined Open

The PPR User-Defined Open command enables you to build an authoring session from limited input data, using predefined procedures. You can also develop your own procedures according to your needs.

User-Defined Open automatically completes PPR structures before opening them in an authoring session. It provides a very effective methodology to open required data as the entire computation to identify and retrieve related information happens directly on the server.

Principles of Use

The PPR User-Defined Open command is available from the PPR Navigation section of the action bar. The selected PPR object is one of the inputs for the procedure. In addition, each procedure expects different type of input objects; therefore, it is important that you select the appropriate object in the session at the time of User-Defined Open invocation. The PPR content is completed according to the procedure you select, then opens in a new authoring tab.

For more information, see Executing a User-Defined Open.

Note: User-Defined Open ignores all filters applied in Manufacturing Context Builder except Configuration Filters.

With User-Defined Open, the completion happens exclusively on the server. Completion steps are predefined in the selected procedure and do not require manual input. Data is then loaded to the app only once, after completion. For these reasons, User-Defined Open helps to improve performance and save time when building your work session.
