Document Types

You can create two types of document objects in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, standard documents or engineering documents.

Standard and Engineering Documents

The below table provides a high level summary of the differences between the two types of documents:

Standard Documents Engineering Documents
Can be created from: Native apps as well as web apps. Native apps only.
Can be viewed in: Native apps as well as web app. Native apps only.
New document saved to the database: Save is done automatically, immediately after creation. Save is done only upon clicking Save.
Supported by Apriso - XPDM export? Yes. No.

Publication Behaviour Customization

You can use dedicated business rules to customize publication behavior.

The PLM opening ID is DELNCDocPublication_BL_ID.

The business rule has the following input:

  • PublishedDocumentName: Can be modified and sent back as an output argument.
  • MachineOccurence: The machine occurrence of the program that the file belongs to.

The business rule has the following output:

  • DocumentType (string)
  • CreateNewDocumentRevision (Boolean)

The default business logic is:

Let CustomDocumentType(String)
CreateNewDocumentRevisionBool = false
CustomDocumentType = "Document"

To create an engineering document, set the DocumentType output to VPMDocument.
