Using NC File Containers

You can create empty NC File Containers, and use existing NC File Containers to export and import NC Files.

This task shows you how to:

Creating NC File Containers

You can create an empty NC Files Container that is automatically linked to the Manufacturing Program.

  1. Right-click a Manufacturing Program.
  2. Select Create NC Files Container .

An empty NC Files Container named NC_Files_Container_x is created under the Manufacturing Cell and is linked to the Manufacturing Program.

Note: Only one NC Files Container is linked to a Manufacturing Program at a given time. Do not create empty NC Files Containers in addition to an existing one, especially if a NC Files Container named _Manufacturing_Program_x has already been created under the Manufacturing Cell. For more information, see Generating NC Code.

Managing NC File Containers

You can manage NC file containers.

  1. From the Analysis and Output section of the action bar, select Manage NC Documents .
The NC Documents dialog box is displayed.

    See NC Documents

  2. You can manage columns display using the Attributes Manager .

    See Displaying Activities

Removing Unlinked NC File Containers

You can remove unlinked NC file containers.

  1. Right-click the Manufacturing Cell.
  2. Select NC Files Container > Remove Unlinked NC Files Containers in the context menu.

NC file containers found under the Manufacturing Cell and not linked to any Manufacturing Program are deleted.

Importing Files into NC File Containers

You can import files from a file-based system into a NC Files Container and then save them into the database.

  1. Right-click the NC Files Container under the Manufacturing Cell and select NC Files Containers > Import to NC Files Container.
  2. In the NC Files Container Import dialog box that appears, select the files to import and select Open.
The files are imported into the NC Files Container.
  3. Right-click the NC Files Container and select NC Files Containers > View NC Program

The files contained in the NC Files Container are listed, enabling you to check your import.

Exporting to a File-Based System from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform

In addition to the default behavior (propagation to the database), you can export files contained in a NC Files Container to a file-based system, from the work area.

  1. Right-click the NC Files Container under the Manufacturing Cell and select NC Files Container > Export from NC Files Container.
  2. In the Export NC Files Container dialog box that is displayed, edit the export path if required.

Note: The proposed export path is the last used export path.

  3. Click OK.

Exporting to a File-Based System from the Search Results Window

In addition to the default behavior (propagation to the database), you can export files contained in a NC Files Container to a file-based system, from a Search Results window.

  1. In the Search box of the Bar, enter a string to search the NC Files Container.
    rep: NC_Files*
  2. In the Search Results window, right-click the NC Files Container and select Download in the context menu.
  3. In the Export NC Files Container dialog box that is displayed, edit the export path if required.

Note: The proposed export path is the last used export path.

  4. Click OK.

Publishing to a Document

In addition to the default behavior (propagation to the database), you can publish files contained in a NC Files Container to a document object from the work area. You can create two types of document objects in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform: standard documents or engineering documents. For more information, see About Publishing NC File Containers.

  1. From the Results tab of the Generate NC Code Interactively dialog box, select the generated NC document you want to display, and then click Publish.
  2. From the action bar, click Manage NC Documents, and then select the NC Document you want to publish.
  3. In the NC Documents dialog box, click Publish .
The selected NC documents is published.

. For more information, see NC Documents.
