Preparing the Parts

In this step, you will prepare the parts to manufacture by creating regions on the parts and defining their orientation.

  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Build Layout .
  2. In the Build Layout dialog box, click Part and select a part.
  3. Type a name in the Region name box to create a region and define a tolerance value.

    Continue in the same way to create other regions.

  4. In the dialog box, under Parts to position, select any of the following to modify the parameters of a single part:
    • Surfaces and Regions Preparation : Prepare the part by creating one or multiple regions on the part using the Surfaces and Regions Preparation dialog box. In the dialog box, click Regions and Add Region . You can also define surfaces that should not have support structure. These surfaces will be taken into account when trying to find the best orientation in the build volume.
    • Part Orientation : Orient the part using the Orientation Preparation dialog box.
    • Add New Positioned Part : Add a new positioned part to the build tray.
  5. Optional: Uncheck Set Previous Instance Position to use the orientation defined in the reference (this option is checked by default).

    Note: If checked, the position and orientation of the new instance is specified as the same as that of the previous instance.

  6. Click OK to save your selection.
