Analyzing a Scan Path

Using Scan Path Analysis, you can analyze a scan path to display any holes, surface roughness, molten and non-molten areas the scan path generates on a part.

Before you begin:
  1. From the Analysis & Output section of the action bar, click Scan Path Analysis .
  2. In the panel that appears, expand the Parts tab and select a part in the work area which tool path you want to analyze.
  3. In the Analysis Parameters tab, select the Physical Parameters sub-tab.
  4. To take into account the physical parameters of the loaded powder during the analysis, do the following:
    1. Select the Activate Physical Analysis check box.
    2. Click Load Parameter from Powder .
The physical parameters related to the loaded powder are automatically imported.

If you do not have any powder loaded, enter any desired values in the parameter boxes.

  5. Click Compute to start the analysis.
In the work area, low-melting areas appear in blue color and surface roughness in red color.
Tip: Use the handles to check precisely where the low-melting and surface roughness are located on the part.
  6. To display a report of the analysis, expand the Results tab.
