Rebalancing Welds

You can balance weld points from one station/robot to another.

Some manufacturing scenarios require that weld points are balanced from one station/robot to another due to cycle time and accessibility constraints. Smart weld distribution tools provided with the Analyze Results panel allows you to reassign weld points between stations or robots in an intuitive way. Also while respecting cycle time, robot accessibility, and device compatibility.

With this smart weld distribution capability, you can visualize the accessibility and assignment status of individual fasteners.

Before you begin: You have simulated and generated results for a manufacturing scenario that has two or more robots/devices, and you have fasteners and/or tags defined.

  1. Click Analyze Results to view the results of the analysis.

The Analyze Results dialog box appears.

Analyze Results displays a table listing all of the welds in the left column. Each subsequent column represents a resource (robot and tool) that was selected during the scenario definition.

Filters are provided at the top of the panel to limit the data presented based on weld/fastener assignment and reachability status, as well as viewing specific resources.

Each cell is color-coded to represent the feasibility of each selected gun with each fastener. By default:

    • indicates that the target is reachable and requires no modification with the current tool.
    • indicates that the target is fixable and can be used with the current tool by modifying the target orientation.
    • indicates that the target is unfixable, where the current tool is not valid with any orientation of the fastener.

  2. Click Auto Assign to automatically assign welds to resources.
The Assignment Validation Panel panel appears and lists each of the welds, the operation, and the resource they are assigned to.

  3. Right-click on a weld in the Analyze Results panel to access the following contextual commands:

    • Assign welds/fasteners to resource allows you to remove the current assignment and assign the selected weld/fastener to another resource.
    • Unassign welds/fasteners removes all current assigned resource links.
    • Split is for operations that implement multiple fasteners. It splits the operation so that the selected fastener is implemented by a new operation while keeping the current resource assignment.
Note: This option is not available in resource-centric workflow.
    • Send to is for operations implementing multiple fasteners. It removes the current implement link and allows you to select another operation to realize the fastener while keeping the current resource assignment. The list if available operations are shown in a panel.
Note: This option is not available in resource-centric workflow.
