Customizing Joints and Reviewing the Postural Score

You can group segments on the upper body (including the spine and the head). This creates a new segment for the Postural Score analysis, which gives you more flexibility for analyzing the posture of the trunk. Customizing joints provides a tool to create virtual segments of the pelvis, trunk, neck, and head on which you can edit the preferred angles with a score.

  1. Click Customized Joint .
  2. Select Customized Segment that activates the Segment.
  3. Right-click in the gray shaded area to access the context menu.
  4. Click Add.

    See Using Angular Limitation Functionality.

Important: You can add Preferred Angles by using the current context menu commands. This dialog box pops up allowing you to edit the zones. This dialog box is the same, that uses in the standard segments. The Body Element field shows which segments are the reference of the customized Segment.

Add the required number of customized segments by using the Close, and selecting Add again from the context menu.

  5. Click Angular limitation .
  6. Click Lumbar from the Manikin tree.

Note: A selection or creation of a customized preferred angle activates and the arrows appear to represent the current position (blue arrow) and the cumulative range of motions.

Defining the 0 degrees position of any customized preferred angle is when the body is standing straight (anatomical posture). The Preferred Angles editing and creation capability is available on this segment like on the standard segments.

  7. Click the blue O deg, hold, and move the mouse for the manikin to lean over.
  8. Click Exit Application to return to the mainwork area.
  9. Click Opens the Postural Score Panel from the Analysis and Output action bar.

The result of the Customized Preferred Angles is displayed in the Segments sections in both the list and chart presentations.

To view this DOF, in the DOF list window, select the DOF1 (abduction/adduction).

The Customized Joint Result, Lumbar/Thoratic12 is show with the Angle(deg) of 21.29

The results can be exported in a report with the preferred angles of standard segments.

The Customized Preferred Angles is listed in the Preferred Angles Properties, tab as well.
