About Local Axis System Accelerators

Accelerators enable you to automatically define the local axis system of product parts. You can set the position or orientation or both.

Accelerators are divided into two types: Set and Copy.

You can access accelerators commands from the Local Axis System Redefinition dialog box.

Set Accelerators

Set accelerators enable you to set the position or orientation of the local axis system.

The following accelerators are available:

Accelerator NameDescription
Bounding Sphere CenterSets the axis system at the center of the part's bounding sphere.
Bounding Box BaseSets the axis center at the base of the part's bounding box.
World AlignModifies the axis system's orientation to align it with the global axis system.

Copy Accelerators

Copy accelerators enable you to duplicate local axis systems of selected parts. The axis system position or orientation or both are copied.

The following accelerators are available:

Accelerator NameDescription
PositionModifies the axis center only.
OrientationModifies the axis system's orientation only.
Position and OrientationModifies both position and orientation of the axis system.

Two copy modes are available:

  • The local copy mode is available by default. The local axis system of the selected part is duplicated.
  • The global copy mode is activated when you press Alt and then select the part to copy. The position or orientation values in the global model's axis system are copied to the part you want to modify.
