You can specify the decimation level for the result you envision using either the slider or entering a value manually, and determine that the initial topology of the model will be guaranteed.
- To execute the calculation in advanced mode and adjust the decimation options manually, click
to expand the Advanced region of the Decimation panel. The
Advanced area is expanded and provides the following options:

Multi results: Calculates the decimation with respect to three levels of decimation including weak, medium and strong. This option is selected by default.
- Proportional chordal deviation: Lets you specify a ratio of the chordal deviation tolerance between 0 to 1. This coefficient parameter and the radius of the object's bounding sphere are accounted for in the calculation for each representation in the model.
- Fixed chordal deviation: Provides an absolute value for a maximum deviation along the original curve. You can specify the fixed chordal deviation value within a range of 0.01 to 10 for all representations of the model during decimation.
- Join: Lets you keep the joins between different faces. This check box is selected by default.
- Set tolerance of join between faces: Allows you to specify the tolerance value of the joins
- Do not decimate free borders: Lets you ignore free borders during decimation.
- Move the slider to adjust the decimation level and click Launch.
A progress bar is displayed and when the decimation process is complete the result is displayed. Triangles are decimated accordingly.
In the
Information
Report panel, the total number of triangles is decreased
accordingly for the selected result.
- To refine further the decimation, select a result of your choice in the multi result view, and click Launch until you are satisfied with the decimation results.
Results are updated accordingly—newer results overwrite previous results. They are arranged in descending order, from the largest number of triangles to the smallest (from left to right in the Multi result view).
