Replacing an Existing Revision of a Document

You can replace an existing revision of a document. When you replace an existing revision, you can choose to automatically replace the existing revision with the latest revision or manually replace the document from an existing list of saved documents. These saved documents can be newer or older revisions of the document you are replacing. You also have the option to replace with the BSF (Best So Far) revision.

Replace Revision From List

You can replace the document from an existing list of saved documents.

  1. Select an assembly having documents.
  2. Expand the product structure tree.
  3. Right-click the document you want to replace and select Replace Revision > From List .
    An Object Selection page appears showing search result list for all versions.
  4. Select the document to replace the existing one and click OK.
    A success message appears. If the command was not successful, the original revision remains connected to the part.

Replace Revision by Latest

You can replace the document with the latest revision.

  1. Expand the product structure tree.
  2. Right-click the document you want to replace and select Replace Revision > By Latest .
    A warning confirmation dialog box appears. A status message appears confirming if the action was successful. If the command was not successful, an error message dialog box appears and the original revision remains connected to the part.

Replace Revision by BSF (Best So Far)

You can replace the connected document with the BSF (Best So Far) revision.

Before you begin: There must be a BSF revision for the document and the currently selected revision must not be the BSF in order for the contextual menu to be displayed.
  1. Expand the product structure tree.
  2. Right-click the document you want to replace and select Replace Revision by BSF.
    A confirmation dialog box appears.
  3. Click OK
    A status message appears confirming if the action was successful. If successful, the latest revision that is in final maturity state replaces the original revision under the part in the navigation tree. If the command was not successful, an error message dialog box appears and the original revision remain connected to the part.
