Creating a 3D Axis

You can create a 3D axis or an infinite line from a point selected in a sketch.

Before you begin: Create a point.

  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click 3D Axis .
  2. Select a point in the sketch.

    Tips:
    • You can also right-click the point and select Point.x object > 3D Axis to create the 3D axis instantly.
    • You can select several points to create several 3D axes.

The output axis is created using the point selected in the sketch and the support plane of the sketch. The created output axis appears in the Outputs node in the tree.

  3. Exit Sketcher and visualize the output axis in the 3D area.

The axis is perpendicular to the sketch support plane and passes through the selected point.

Tip: Rotate the view to make the 3D axis appear infinite.

The axis is associative with the selected point.
  4. Optional: Double-click the OutputAxis.1 feature in the tree.
The Output Axis Definition dialog box appears. You can change the input of the 3D axis in this dialog box.

Note: The graphic properties of the output feature (3D axis) and its input (point) are identical. Therefore, any change done in 3D is propagated to its 2D geometry and vice versa.

  5. Optional: Delete the point which was used to create the 3D axis.
The created 3D axis is immediately removed from the tree and the 3D view.
