Managing Implement Links

You can manage implement links of a logical reference. You can create, delete, and view implement links. Implement links are used to connect requirements, functions, logical components, and physical components.

Implement relations are always created from a lower level abstract category to a higher-level abstract category.

There are two types of the implement links as follows:

  • Reference to Reference Implement Link
  • Occurrence to Occurrence Implement Link

This task shows you how to:

Create Reference- Reference Implement Relation

Context: The reference-reference implement link between two references defines the context or subcontext of the system. These links are useful to open with completion of a subsystem.

  1. In the grid view, right-click the required logical reference and select Create Ref-Ref Implement Relation.
    The 3DSearch window opens.
  2. From the 3DSearch, select the required items and click OK.
The implement relation is created for the context item and the grid view is refreshed to show the links.

Create Occurence- Occurence Implement Relation

Context: You can create occurrence- occurrence implementation links from the reference-reference implement relation context. The link indicates the purpose of an element, and ensures it fulfills a need.

Two elements of their parent levels, or at least their tree roots, must be linked with a reference-reference implement linked.

  1. In the grid view, navigate to the context of the required item and from the Implementing / Implemented By row open the contextual menu of the other system with which the implement relation is already established.

The user has to navigate to the context of the item in the grid view then move to the Implementing / Implemented By row and open the contextual menu of the other system with which the implement relation is already established

The Traceability Matrix opens with the context system and the selected system children.

You can perform following actions from the Traceability Matrix.

    Actions Description
Expand ( To N level or All) Expands the structures based on the level selected- default is 0.
    Collapse Collapses the structures.
Export to Excel Exports the viewed matrix with the relations to the excel.
Switch Matrix Switches the row structure with column.
Filter Allows filtering capabilities to apply on structures.

  2. Select the items to create an occurrence link.
The occurrence link is created and the grid view is updated.

Delete Implement Relations

You can delete implement relations.

  1. All the implement relations – Reference to Reference and Occurrence to Occurrence, connected to the root system, which is opened and its children with respect to its root are displayed in the grid view.
  2. Right-click the required implement relation and select Delete Implement Relation.
The implement relation is deleted and the grid view is updated.

Edit Properties of Implement Links

You can edit the properties of implement relations.

  1. Right-click the required implement relation and click Implement Relation Information.
    The Information Panel opens.
  2. From the Information Panel, select Edit.
The Name and Description field become editable.
  3. Enter the required values and click Save.
The grid view is updated with the recent values.

Attributes of Implemented Logical Reference

You can now select rows under group node related to a logical reference and to view attribute values. You can select rows under the following group nodes.

  • Implementing
  • Is Implementing
  • Implemented By
  • Is Implemented By
Use Attributes Management panel to add additional attributes to Data Grid View. For more information, see Actions

  1. Select one or more rows under the group nodes and from the context menu, select Display More Atrributes
  2. The success message is displayed and same attributes that for the structure logicals are displayed on the selected nodes .
The information is displayed for all the attributes except the following attributes.
    • Convergence States
    • Instance Title
    • Lock Status
    • Assigned Spaces
    • Effectivity
    • Variant/Option
    • Current Evolution
    • Projected Evolution
    Notes:
    • For rows under Implementing and Implemented by nodes only reference attribute values are displayed.
    • For rows under Is Implementing and Is Implemented by nodes both instance and reference attribute values are displayed.
    • You cannot edit the data under group nodes.
