Creating an Exception

You can create an exception.

Required access role:

  • Baseline: Leader


Before you begin: IP Protection Management must be the active app.
Important: The number of IP Security Exceptions must not exceed 10 per class.

  1. In the navigation pane, click IP Protection Exceptions.
  2. Click Create IP Exception or Create Security Exception.

    If you are creating an exception from a security class, the exception you create depends on the security class. For example, if you are in an IP Control Class, you can create an IP Exception. If you are in a Security Control Class, you can create a Security Exception.

  3. Enter the following information:
    Field Description
    Type IP Exception or Security Exception is the type of object.
    Name Enter a name or select the AutoName check box.
    Policy Select the policy: IP Security Exception or User Requested Exception.
    Note: Only the IP Security Manager can create an IP Export Classification Document. Users with the IP Controlled Access role can create User Requested Exceptions.
    Title Enter a title for the exception.
    Description Enter a description for the exception.
    Class Click to select the class.
    Owner The user who created the exception. Click to select a different owner.
    Effective From Exceptions must have a date that specifies when the exception will be effective for use. Click to select the effective date.
    Effective To Exceptions must have an expiration date. Click to select the expiration date.
    Contract Identification Enter the contract identification information.
    Authorized Items Click to search for or type ahead and select the authorized items.
    Authorized People Click to search for or type ahead to select the authorized people.
    Authorized Organizations Click to search for or type ahead to select the authorized organization. The organization name and title display using type ahead.
  4. Click OK.
