Assigning a Custom Role To a Dashboard

You can assign one or several custom roles to a dashboard thus automatically provide users read access to it as long as they have been granted this role. This association lets you provide your users with dashboards and roles that best fit their needs.

Before you begin: At least one custom role must be available in the Roles & Options section.

  3. Click View All to see the list of available custom roles.
  4. Check the option box in the row containing the role you want to assign.
  5. Click Save.

Notes:
  • You can remove an assigned role by unselecting it in the list.
  • If you grant the custom role that you have assigned to the dashboard, the granted users can start using both the selected dashboard and the custom role.
  • When you associate a dashboard to a custom role, all platform administrators become owners of this dashboard to be able to maintain it in your absence.

However, this ownership is not linked to the life cycle of the dashboard/role association: you can remove an administrator from the dashboard's membership at any time and the remaining administrators will keep their ownership if all roles are removed from the dashboard.
