Creating a New Predefined Configuration

You can create predefined configurations including change management capabilities. Change tracking provides additional capabilities to predefined configuration. It enables you to choose the change to include in the filter definition.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open the Properties dialog box of an object.

Create Predefined Configuration

  1. Select the Configuration tab.

You can create a predefined configuration if the object has at least one model attached to it. If the product is configured (i.e. has a model dictionary associated to it), the name of the model dictionary is listed in the Context area.

The Predefined Configurations area lists the current predefined configurations available for the selected product. In this scenario, the list is empty.
  2. Click New Predefined Configuration.
  3. To define the attributes, you can enter the following details:
    Field NameDescription
    NameType a name.

By default, the name is provided in the Name box with the unique key server identifier.

    DescriptionType a description
Applying ViewAllows you to determine the view to apply the defined filter criteria. This area is visible, if the Change (Change Manager) license is available.

    By default, Official is selected.

Official: Allows you to apply this predefined configuration on the official view of the product structure (equivalent to predefined configuration without change management involved).
    • Include In-work changes: Allows you to enable addition of in-work changes to the filter definition.

By default, this option is not selected.

Projected: Allows you to apply the predefined configuration on the projected view of the structure including the proposed changes. Changes that are compliant with the configuration criteria are automatically selected.
    • Include In-work changes: Allows you to select changes that are without proposed applicability.

By default, this option is not selected.

Change: Allows you to apply the predefined configuration on the view of the structure containing the list of changes. The definition of the criteria will be based only on a list of changes.

Note: You can also import an existing predefined configuration provided the existing one has a suitable criterion.

  4. Click Next.
Depending on the selection of configuration criteria, the respective dialog box appears. If you select the configuration criteria, the New - Predefined Configuration - Expression dialog box appears. For more information about defining the configuration criteria, see Configured Engineering User Guide: Managing Predefined Configurations: Creating a Predefined Configuration.

    Or

If you select the change criteria, the New - Predefined Configuration - Criteria dialog box appears.

Tip: Click Finish if you do not want to define any criteria.

You can also edit the predefined configuration later, to add relevant criteria. For more information about editing predefined configuration, see Configured Engineering User Guide: Managing Predefined Configurations: Modifying an Existing Predefined Configuration.

  5. Click Next.
The New - Predefined Configuration - Summary dialog box appears containing a summary of all the selected criteria.

For more information about the following steps, see Configured Engineering User Guide: Managing Predefined Configurations : Creating a Predefined Configuration.

Import from an Existing Predefined Configuration

You can import an existing predefined configuration.

Before you begin: Open the New - Predefined Configuration - Properties dialog box. For more information about the New - Predefined Configuration - Properties dialog box, see Create Predefined Configuration.
  1. Click Import from existing Product Configuration .
The Search for a Predefined Configuration for import dialog box appears.
  2. To search for predefined configurations, you can do one of the following:
    • In the Name box, enter your search criteria (with or without wildcards) and click Simple Search .
    • Click Advanced Search .

For more information about Advanced Search, see 3DEXPERIENCE Basics User Guide: Search:.

A list of predefined configurations corresponding to your search criteria appears.
  3. Select the predefined configuration of your choice and click OK.
The New - Predefined Configuration - Properties dialog box appears again.
  4. Repeat the task from step 3 to step 6 of the Create Predefined Configuration section to get the desired results.
