About Effectivity and Filtering

Effectivity enables you to apply configurations on a variant model and create configured architectures. For example, to filter the children of an object, you must associate at least one variant model to the parent object. Effectivity and Applicability in Electrical & Electronics Architecture

Once a variant model has been associated with an Electrical & Electronics Architecture object, you can assign an individual effectivity to the following children:

  • EE components and subsystems in topologies
  • Functions in function parent
  • Function ports
  • Hardware ports
  • System mappings and objects within the system mapping (Bus Mappings, Wire Mappings, Component Partitioning...)
  • System mappings in projects
  • Software ports
  • Software components in software architectures

The product configuration lets you select the configuration feature options used to filter Electrical & Electronics Architecture objects.

Basic Example

The following example shows you how to filter a function linked to a system mapping.

  1. Define a system mapping, composed of two subfunctions Function1 and Function2 and two ECUs.

  2. Enter the following effectivity:
    Product : Configuration_Feature1 {Option1}
Product_Configuration : Configuration_Feature1 = Option2
  3. If you apply a product configuration on Function1, the Function1 is filtered and appears in gray in the functional view.
  4. If you apply the previous product configuration on the system mapping, the Function 1 is filtered and it involves the ECU color changes.
