Connecting a Subsystem by Dragging

From the hardware view, you can create a direct or an indirect connection from a subsystem to another subsystem, an EE component, or a topology port.

This scenario describes how to connect a subsystem to an ECU, which is not in the subsystem. The scenario is identical for other EE components, subsystems, and topology ports.

Before you begin:
  • Create a topology.
  • Create a subsystem with ports and instantiate it in a topology.
  • Create an ECU with ports, which have the same types as that of the subsystem's.

About Hardware Connection
  1. Drag a port of the subsystem onto a port of the ECU.
  2. To create a connection, select one of the following options from the context toolbar:
    ConnectionDescription
Simple Connection Creates a direct connection represented as a straight line between ports.
Connect With Channel Depending on the port type, creates:
    • A bus, a connection between the bus and the subsystem, and a connection between the bus and the ECU.
    • A wire connected to subsystem's ports.

Note: A port of a subsystem cannot be connected to two components with the same kind of connection.
