Allocate Ports
You can allocate ports to channels.

Right-click the Data Allocations node and select
Allocate Ports
.
The multistep workflow guides you through the process.
- In the Software step of the workflow, select a software component, such as a software architecture, atomic software component, application, or partition.
- In the Port step of the workflow, select a port and click Next step .
- Optional: In the Variable step of the workflow, select a data element.
- Click Next step .

To allocate a port to a channel, in the
Preallocation/Allocation step of the workflow, you
have the following possibilities:
Purpose Procedure An allocation of port on a bus signal or on a wire
- Select Create allocation on signal.

Select Choose system signal by selecting bus or wire mappings and click Next step .
- In the Channel/Signal step of the
workflow, select one of the following:
- Bus, a bus, a matrix, and a bus signal.
- Shared Virtual Link, a shared virtual link, a matrix, and a bus signal.

Wire, a wire, and optionally a
system signal. Note: For a generic wire, select a subport producer and a subport consumer.
An allocation of port on a system signal

Select Create allocation on signal and click Next step .
- In the Channel/Signal step of the workflow, select a system signal.
A preallocation

Select Create preallocation and click Next step .
- In the Channel/Signal step of the
workflow, select one of the following:
- A channel.
- Preallocate on multiple channels, then for each channel: select a channel and click .
Note: You can assign a signal later using the Select Signal command. -
To complete the allocation, you can either:
Option Description Click OK. A premapping or a data mapping is created and it appears in the Data Allocations node. Click Create and New. Creates and validates the current allocation, and lets you create another allocation from Step 2. -
Optional: To add attributes to a data mapping, right-click a data
mapping, and then select Create Attribute
or Create Attributes from
Template
.
