You can create a connection in several ways.

Note: With the Avionics Architect (AVARA) role, you can work with applications, partitions, and configuration tables.

These assembly connections can be created from the context menus or from the software view.

Creating Ports for Software Components

Create Connections from Menu

In a software architecture or in an application, you can create a connection between two ports from the context menu. This scenario describes how to create a connection in a software architecture. The scenario is identical for an application.

Before you begin:
  • Create two software components in the parent software component.
  • Create a port for each software component.
  1. Right-click the Connections node of a software architecture or a software architecture instance, and select Create Connection .
  2. Enter these details for the new connection:

    Box Name Description
    Transmitter Select a software architecture or an instance of software component.
    Transmitter port Select the start port for the connection.
    Receiver Select a software architecture or an instance of software component (depending on your choice for the transmitter).
    Receiver port Select the end port for the connection.

    Note: To create heterogeneous connections, clear Hide receiver ports with different interface than transmitter port.

The new connection is added and appears under the Connections node of the software architecture.

Create Connections from Ports

In a software architecture or in an application, you can create connections from ports.

Before you begin:
  • Create two software components.
  • Create a port for each software component.
  1. Right-click a port and select Connect Port in Parent Architecture.
  2. Depending on the port direction, enter these details for the new connection:
    • For an Out port:
      Box Name Description
      Transmitter Select a software component or an instance.
      Transmitter port Select the start port for the connection.
    • For an In port:
      Box Name Description
      Receiver Select a software component or an instance.
      Receiver port Select the end port for the connection.

The new connection is added and appears under the Connections node of the parent software component.
