Connecting a Subsystem to its Parent

To easily connect a subsystem to its EE parent component, you can automatically create the convenient ports and connections.

This scenario shows how to connect a subsystem to an ECU. The scenario is identical if the parent is another EE component.

Before you begin:
  • Create and insert a topology as a subsystem in an EE component.
  • Create ports in the topology.

Inserting Subsystems
  1. In the Hardware tab, expand the ECUs node, an ECU, and the Subsystems node.
  2. Right-click the subsystem and select Create All Connections in Parent EE Component.
    The Create All Connections in Parent EE Component dialog box appears. It displays the ports and the connections to be created in the ECU.

Under the ECU:

  • The ports are created.
  • The connections between the ECU and its subsystem are created in the Connections node.
