Inserting an Electrical Geometry

An electrical geometry is an assembly of connectors, supports and one or more electrical branch geometries depending on your design philosophy. You can instantiate one or more electrical geometries in the tree under the active product.

  1. Select a product, for example Product-1.
  2. In the Electrical 3D Design app, from the Branch section of the action bar, click Electrical Geometry .
The Electrical Geometry dialog box appears. The first tab, Electrical Geometry, contains the same attributes as a product:
    • Part Number
    • Description
    • Industry code
    • Standard Number
    • Sub-contracted (True / False)
    • Supplier Name.

The second tab, Electrical Geometry Extension, corresponds to specific electrical data (Sub-type box).

  3. Click OK.
The associated symbol in the tree changes. An electrical geometry having appropriate electrical properties is created.

You are now ready to start your design.

Note: You are advised to create an electrical geometry first before any other action such as instantiating connectors or creating electrical branch geometries. This is the default option. You can change this option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Electrical and Electronic Systems > Electrical 3D Design > Branch section. See Branch Creation options.
