Using Electrical Catalogs with the Manage Links Command

You can declare your electrical catalog in the Data Setup app. For each collaborative space, a resource table is created and a particular catalog is associated to it. Then, the user looks for the catalog, stored in Data Setup, in the database, to build his product definition. The PLMSetup allows the definition of a favorite electrical catalog resource (catalog favorites for the catalog browser are initialized with the list of catalogs defined in Electrical PLMSetup). This setup defines the catalogs shared by all electrical commands. The architecture has to be flexible enough to allow a recursive instantiation of mounting equipment, equipments and connectors or connectors, pins and backshells from the xml file or from other logical data.

This function prevents the user from opening a catalog browser. Precisely, parts are automatically instantiated from database while using the Manage Links command (with the catalog option).

Before you begin:
  • Create a catalog for 3D components. A catalog is used to organize references and it should contain all the usable components (connectors, conductors without geometry). This should be done during the collaborative space definition.
  • In the Data Setup app, select the resource table called 3D Electrical components catalogs in the Electrical physical system design resources resource set.
  • To assign a resource to the resource table, select your catalog.
  • Associate the resource table to a collaborative space.
  1. Open your electrical product and, from the Import / Export section of the action bar, click Manage Links .

    Notes:
    • The search can be restricted to the catalog instead of the whole database.
    • The Manage Links command allows two Search modes Electrical catalog and Database or session.

  2. In the External Device List dialog box, select an option to choose the data source:
    • Electrical Catalog
    • Database or session

    Note: If no mode is specified, the Electrical Catalog mode is set by default.

  3. If the selected object is available in the catalog set as Favorites from the PLMSetUp, instantiate it.
  4. Click Close.
