About Predefined Attributes

Edition of Predefined Attributes

Predefined attributes set on a branch or a segment are not editable within the app. As a consequence:

In the Branch Definition and Segment Definiton dialog boxes, and in the Branch Properties panel, parameters retrieved from a definition table are grayed.
The Detailed Profile Management command is disabled for segments created with predefined attributes.
The Profile Management command is disabled for route elements if your segments are created with predefined attributes.
The Automatically import profile properties from segment connection point or cavity option, set in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Electrical and Electronic Systems > Electrical 3D Design > Branch section, is ignored for branches and segments created with predefined attributes.
The Diameter and bend radius to its content option, set in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Electrical and Electronic Systems > Electrical 3D Design > Conductor section, is ignored for segments created with predefined attributes. Therefore, the diameter of these segments is not updated.
When using the Manual Routing, Automatic Routing, and Segments Diameter commands, you are notified through a tooltip message that the segments are built with a definition table and that the modification of diameter, bend radius, and profile is not possible.

There is no synchronization between the changes made in the definition table in the Data Setup app and the branch or segment. If you edit the attributes in the definition table, they are not retrieved by the branches or the segments.

Addition of a Branch Point

When Branch Definition Table is set:

When Branch Definition Table is not set:

No	New segment inherits segment parameters from original segment. Those parameters are editable.

When Segment Definition Table is set:

Removal of a Branch Point

Branch Split

When Branch Definition Table is set:


Does second segment has predefined attributes?	Effect
Yes	New branch inherits attributes from source branch, predefined in the Branch Definition Table. The new segment, aggregated under the new branch, keeps its predefined attributes set prior to split.
No	New branch inherits attributes from source branch, predefined in the Branch Definition Table. No predefined attributes are applied on the new segment.

Note: The first segment remains under the original branch. The second segment is aggregated under the new branch.

When Branch Definition Table is not set:


Does second segment has predefined attributes?	Effect
Yes	The attributes of the new branch are editable. The new segment, aggregated under the new branch, keeps its predefined attributes set prior to split.
No	The attributes of the new branch are editable. The new segment, aggregated under the new branch, keeps its attributes set by the user prior to split.

Note: The first segment remains under the original branch. The second segment is aggregated under the new branch.

Branch Merge

Merging two branches created with different predefined attributes is not allowed. A branch merge is possible only if:

The branches have the same predefined attributes.
No predefined attributes are set on the branches.

When you merge branches, the segments belonging to the merging branch are aggregated under the merged branch. If those segments are created using a Segment Definition Table, they keep their predefined attributes after the merge.

Copy/Cut and Paste

You can copy/cut and paste branches and segments created with predefined attributes. Branches and segments keep their predefined attributes after the paste.
