About the Identification of the Roll Plane

The identification of the local roll plane depends on the coplanarity of the manipulated branch with the active plane on which the content is flattened.

Important: You cannot use the copilot when you roll branches in a local plane. For more information about the copilot, see Align Segments Using the Pin.

Branch Coplanar with Active Plane

By default, if the branch selected for manipulation is coplanar with the active plane, then the active plane is identified as the local roll plane.

Branch not Coplanar with Active Plane

If the branch selected for manipulation is not coplanar with the active plane, then the junction plane is identified as the local roll plane.

Manual Identification

The local roll plan can be defined manually by hovering and selecting an alternative plane in the 3D area, provided that the branch selected for manipulation is coplanar with the hovered plane.

If the selected branch and the hovered plane are not coplanar, the following icon and a tooltip appear in the 3D area to indicate that the hovered plane is not valid for selection.
