Linking Cable Content with Existing Nets

When you create a cable, you can link its content with an existing net.

Before you begin:
  • Create a net group and two nets, and then link the nets with the net group.
  • Create another net.
  • In a diagram view, create equipments and connect them with the two nets. It is called a net diagram.
  • In another diagram view, place the equipments previously created in the net diagram.

  1. In the tree, double-click the diagram view containing the equipments to be connected.
    The diagram view is activated.

  2. Create a cable containing three wires.
    Once you have clicked OK to validate the creation of your cable, the Route Cable Content dialog box appears.
  3. In the Route Cable Content dialog box, select Automatic net link.
    In the diagram view, the pins already connected in the net diagram are highlighted. The Net Group and Net lists are updated with all the nets linked with an element displayed in the current diagram view.

  4. In the Net Group box, select the net group.
    Only the pins connected by nets linked with the selected net group are highlighted.

  5. Select a connection point on the first component to be connected.

    Notes:
    • Pins belonging to a splice or a disconnect, and not linked to a net, are not highlighted but can be selected.
    • If there is more than one net connected with the selected pin, the Net Selection dialog box appears to allow you to select the desired net.

    The Net list is updated and displays only the nets connected with the selected pin. In the diagram view, only the pins connected with the same net are highlighted.

  6. Select a connection point on the second component to be connected.
    The cable are routed and linked with a net.

  7. Create a second cable containing one wire and select Automatic net link in the Route Cable Content dialog box.
  8. In the diagram view, click the first pin.
    Only the pins connected with this net are highlighted.

  9. Select the second connection point.
    The second cable is routed.
