Linking Wires with Nets

You can link wires with nets.

When you create and route a wire, you can link this wire with an existing net.

Before you begin:
  • In a diagram view, create equipments and connect them with nets. This is called a net diagram.
  • In another diagram view, place the equipments previously created in the net diagram.


  1. In the tree, double-click the diagram view containing the equipments to be connected.
    The diagram view appears.

  2. Create a wire. For more information, see Creating a Wire/Wire Shield Reference.
    Once you have clicked OK to validate the creation of your wire, the Route Wire dialog box appears.
  3. In the Route Wire dialog box, select Automatic net link.
    The Net list is updated with all the nets linked with an element displayed in the current diagram view. In the diagram view, all the pins connected in the net diagram are highlighted.

  4. Select a connection point on the first component.

    Note: Pins belonging to a splice or a disconnect, and not linked with a net, are not highlighted but can be selected.

    Tip: You can select the net you want to link your wire with first. In this case, only the pins connected to this net are highlighted.

    The Net list is updated and displays only the nets connected with the selected pin.
  5. Select a connection point on the second component.

    The Net list is once again updated and displays only the nets connected with the two selected pins.
  6. In the Net list, select the desired net to be connected with the wire.

    Note: If there is only one value in the Net list, this value becomes the default value.

  7. Click anywhere to validate the creation of the wire.
    The wire is created and linked with a net.

Link Existing Wires with Nets

You can link all the existing wires with nets.

Before you begin:
  • In a diagram view, connect equipments with nets.
  • In a second diagram view connect the same equipments with harness components (wires, disconnects, harness connectors...).


  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Automatic Net/Wires Links .
  2. Click the electrical system containing both nets and wires.
  3. In the Global Net Allocations dialog box, analyze the report and take the appropriate actions if needed:
    Label Description Action
    Information about an existing link between a wire and a net. This is a simple information. No action is requested.
    Validation of a link between a wire and a net. Click Apply to validate the assignment or clear the Assign the wire to the following net option to prevent the link creation.
    Tip: To validate all the links, click Accept All, and then Apply.
    Several nets can be linked to the same wire. In the Net list, you need to choose a net and click Apply.
    No link can be created. Net ends are not compatible with the wire. This is a simple information. No action is requested.
    Tip: Click to filter the information.

    In the diagram view, the wires are highlighted according to their status.

  4. Click Close.
    The links between the wires and the nets are created.
