Generating Wiring Diagram Views From Net Diagram View

You can generate a wiring diagram view in one click. The generation of the wiring diagram view is based on an existing net diagram view.

Before you begin:
  • Generate the wiring definition from the net definition.
  • When working with two systems (net and wiring), open both net system and wiring system in the same tab.
  • In Data Setup, define the symbol representation for the different electrical components.

  1. Select one of the following elements:
    • A view
    • Note: If you do not ask for the creation of a new view, the selected view will be modified.
    • One or several sheets
    • A layout

Note: The source view must contain at least the equipment and the pins.

  2. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Generate Wiring Diagram .
  3. Depending on the source element selected in Step 1, select one of the following elements:
    • A view or a sheet if the source element is a view.
    • A layout if the source element is one or several sheets or a layout.

Note: The parameters applied to the sheet of the wiring diagram view are the same as the ones applied to the sheet of the selected net diagram view.

If the net diagram view is not generated after modifying the parameters using Wiring and Net Diagram Generator Parameters , the parameters will not be applied to the sheet of the wiring diagram view.

The wiring diagram view is created and the following electrical components are placed using the default representation defined in Data Setup:
    • Harness connectors, connected to equipment components through connector ports. It is displayed in view with its pins and connected to the equipment symbol.
    • Shells connected to equipment through connector ports. The connector port is displayed in view and connected to the equipment symbol.
    • Terminal blocks connected to wires through a terminal's pins. The terminal of the terminal block is displayed in view.
    • Disconnects displayed with both parts.
    • Wires are displayed, even if not in a cable. They are connected to the components.
    • Cable with its symbol of cable extremity is displayed if defined in Data Setup.
    • Splices. If no symbol is defined, a default symbol is used. The pin is displayed at the origin of the symbol.
