Tools Section

The Tools section of the action bar provides commands for reviewing existing models and determine whether they can be combined and reused in a new design project.

Home
Returns to the Home page.

Volume Query
Filters objects in a validated volume (box, sphere, proximity).
See Filtering a Structure Using a Volume Query .
Edit Properties
Opens the Properties widget, and displays information about the selected objects in different tabs.
You can edit the properties of the object from the widget.

The available tabs depend on the app the command is launched from, and the type of object that is selected.

For more information, see Properties and Information.

In 3D Navigate, the properties are read-only mode. You cannot edit them.

Reveal Documents
Displays the attachments and specification documents attached to the objects in the 3D view.
See Displaying Documents and Points of Interest.
Relations
Displays the ecosystem of related objects.

For more information, see Exploring Relationships Between Objects.

Filter
Filters the structure either by attribute or by configuration.

Opens the filter pane where you can define the criteria to filter the structure either by attribute or by configuration.

For more information, see Advanced Filtering.

Measure
Measures different parameters of an object such as coordinates of a point, area of surface, angle between two objects and distance between selected objects.
Section
Cuts through objects using a section plane, to see and access details inside the object, and to measure hidden items.

In the context toolbar, choose options to customize the section (cut side, orientation, viewpoint, etc.).

  • To rotate the plane, drag its edges.
  • To resize the plane, drag its corners.
  • To position the plane on a specific surface of the object, drag the blue central sphere towards that surface.
  • To translate the plane, drag its surface, or use the slider if available.
Hide or Show Section Plane
Toggles the visibility of the section planes already created, without affecting the visibility of the section plane that is being created.
This lets you see cut elements more clearly and access items to measure more easily.
Print
See Flyout for Printing Commands.

Flyout for Printing Commands

Print
Prints the structure to the printer of your choice.
Opens the Print dialog box that allows you to print the entire loaded structure presented in table format.
Save Screenshot
Takes a screenshot of the 3D viewer, and saves it as a .png file.
The screenshot only includes the content of the 3D viewer, the panels (such as the layer panel or side panel), and the action bar are not captured.
