Displaying Documents and Points of Interest

When documents or Points of Interest (POI) are attached to a geometry, you can display them and interact with them.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: To display the Layers panel:
  • If you have attachments and specification documents attached to a geometry, from the Tools section of the action bar, click Reveal Documents .
  • If you used a third-party software to add POIs, the Layers panel is displayed by default. For more information, see About Points of Interest.
Notes:
  • When you load large objects, the processing can take time.
  • An icon appears when POIs are added. When documents are attached, the icon appears where the document is attached on the geometry.

Interact with Documents and Points of Interest

In the Layers panel, each POI or document is displayed on a separate line. You can click the different icons to display or hide, group or ungroup, or remove them, to display information about them or to change their color.

  1. To hide or show the document or POI, click Hide/Show .
  2. To group or ungroup documents or POIs, click Activate Clustering .
    The number of POIs that have been grouped is displayed in a bubble on top of the pin.
    Note: Some POIs that are close to each other are automatically grouped. In this case, a circle is displayed below these clusters. For this type of clustering, you can define the maximal distance between POIs in the external software you used to add the POIs.
  3. To display information about the POI, click Legend .
    A legend panel appears with the following information:
    • The name of the layer
    • The color of the POI
    • The opacity of the graphic properties
    • The labels of the POIs, and graphics properties
    .
    Tip: To close the Legend panel, click .
  4. To change the color of the document or POI group, click Change POI group color .

    Note: By default, the color chooser is deactivated. To change the POI color, activate the option in the software used to create the POI.

  5. To select several POIs or documents, press and hold Ctrl, and select the elements.
    The POI panel appears with the selected POIs.
  6. To remove a document or POI, click .
    The document or POI is removed from the 3D viewer.
    Note: If you remove all the layers, the documents are no longer visible.

Display Documents Contained in a Cluster

When a large number of documents are added, they can be regrouped in clusters.

  1. Click a cluster.
    The Reveal Group panel appears with the following information about each document:
    • A thumbnail with an icon corresponding to the type of document, or the image if the document is an image.
    • Its name.
    • Its ID.
    • Its owner.
  2. Optional: In the Reveal Group panel:
    1. To reframe on the object the document is attached to, click the document.

      If the document is attached to a reference, it reframes on all the instances of that reference ID in the structure (that is, occurrences. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE | PLM Components | Basic PLM Objects.). All the documents with that reference are selected, along with their associated geometries.

    2. To open the document, double-click it.
      The document opens in the last widget you used to open this type of object, such as 3DPlay.
      Tip: You can right-click the document and select the app you want to open the document in.
