Selecting Your Physical Location

You can select your physical location from the Credentials dialog box or from the IP Protection and Export Control Location app.

Select Your Location from the Credentials

The administrator can activate the Location Aware mode parameter in the Collaborative Spaces Control Center. If the Location Aware mode is enabled, you can select your physical location in the Credentials dialog box used to log in to the app.

  1. Open IP Protection and Export Control Management in the Collaborative Spaces Control Center. For more information, see Configuring IP Protection and Export Control Management in the Collaborative Spaces Control Center.
  2. From Location Control, select the Location Aware mode check box.

    By default, Location Aware mode is disabled.

  3. From the Credentials dialog box, log in to the app and enter your credentials.
  4. Select the country that indicates your current physical location in accordance with Export Control regulations.
  5. Select the check box to remember your selection for 7 days.

    Important: If selected, your location is remembered for 7 days, and all physical location-based security rules and exceptions are evaluated using this location for 7 days. If not selected, your location is still remembered for 12 hours. Once this time frame is over, you cannot access protected objects using the physical location security rules and exceptions.
    On premises only: By default, your physical location is remembered for 12 hours. The Business Administrator can configure the time frame to remember your physical location.

    The Export Control Disclaimer displays at the bottom of the Credentials dialog box.

After 7 days, you must reselect your options.

Select Your Location from the IP Protection and Export Control Location App

You can view and select your physical location from the IP Protection and Export Control Location app.

  1. From the Compass, click IP Protection and Export Control Location.
  2. From the list, select the country where you are physically located.

    The timestamp displays after your first login and updates with each login. Your last selected login location, date, and time displays above the country list.

  3. Select the Remember my country for one week check box to remember your location for 7 days.

    Important: If selected, your location is remembered for 7 days, and all physical location-based security rules and exceptions are evaluated using this location for 7 days. If not selected, your location is still remembered for 12 hours. Once this time frame is over, you cannot access protected objects using the physical location security rules and exceptions.
    On premises only: By default, your physical location is remembered for 12 hours. The Business Administrator can configure the time frame to remember your physical location.

    The Export Control Disclaimer displays at the bottom of the app.

  4. Click Submit.

After 7 days, you must reselect your country.
