About Export Options

When exporting content to Composer files, you can choose from a number of export options. This topic provides information about each export option.

Note: For more information about these options and how they are handled as input document properties in Composer, see the CATIA Composer User Assistance Portal, and in particular Composer User's Guide: Managing (Default) Document Properties: Input.

The table below describes each export option.

Option Description
Merge files into one actor per part Exports parts, including multibody parts, as single actors. To export multibody parts as individual actors, clear this option.
Tip: Select this option to facilitate updates in Composer when the CAD geometry changes. The identifiers are based on the part name and not on the body names. Body names can change when the features change.
Note: Clear this option to ensure that FT&A views and captures match the visibility status (show or no-show) of the original 3DEXPERIENCE content, and to be able to manage this visibility status.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export instance names Adds the instance names after the part name: #PN# (#IN#). #PN# and #IN# are also added as meta-properties so you can add annotations linked to these meta-properties.

By default, this option is selected.

Export meta-properties Exports attributes such as part number (P/N), designation, and revision number. In Composer, meta-properties appear as user properties in the Properties pane.

By default, this option is selected.

Export as bodies Exports parts as solid bodies.

To export parts as individual faces, clear this option and clear Merge file into one actor per part. If you select Merge file into one actor per part, it does not matter what you select for Export as bodies; multibody parts export as single bodies.

By default, this option is selected.

Export area, volume, and inertia axes

Exports surface and volume information from CAD models as meta-properties on the assembly level. This option is useful only for translation of the CAD content into Composer format.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export points Exports point geometry.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export curves Exports curve geometry (curves, wires, wireframes).

By default, this option is cleared.

Export free faces Exports surface bodies (construction faces).

By default, this option is selected.

Export hidden components Exports hidden parts in assemblies and bodies in multibody parts. The hidden components are stored in a selection set.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export coordinate systems Exports coordinate systems.

Note: Use this option with caution. Models can have large numbers of coordinate systems.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export textures Exports textures, including UV textures, on actor faces.

By default, this option is cleared.

Export PMI Exports product and manufacturing information (PMI), also known as 3D tolerancing and annotations.
Note: A number of limitations apply.

By default, this option is cleared.
