Assigning Variant Effectivity

You can assign variant effectivity to a logical or function instance.


Before you begin:
  • Ensure that a context is attached to the logical or function root.
  • Under the root, a logical or function component is created.
  1. Right-click the logical or function instance and select Edit Variant Effectivity of Instance .
    The Define Variant Effectivity dialog box appears. It shows the selected models on the left pane and the variants and options on the right pane.
  2. In the search box, search, and select the required variants and options.
    If you select:
    • A variant, the variant and all its variant values are added.
    • An option group, the option group and all its options are added.
    • A variant value or an option, only the variant value or the option is added.
  3. Click OK.

    Note: The tooltip content for the logical or function instances can be customized to display the name of the assigned variant effectivity. In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Functional & Logical Design > Tooltip , assign the Effectivity attribute for logical or function object. For more information, see Customizing Tooltips. The variant and evolution decoupling is applied in the tooltip of functional and logical components when the effectivity attribute is selected in the Tooltip tab.
