About Openings

An opening is a face that bounds a fluid region but for which there is no geometry.

Defining a Fluid Domain

You can define an opening by selecting a series of edges that enclose a surface. In the example below, the highlighted edges define the openings at both ends of the pipe.

The openings in this example are closed loops of edges, but you can also select a series of edges connected to a bounding plane or an axis of symmetry.

You do not have to specify whether fluid flows into or out of the fluid domain at each opening until you define the flow conditions.
