Hiding the User Feature Instance Internals Using the Black Box Mode

You can use the Black Box mode that simplifies the user view, and limits the exposition of the user feature internals. This mode lets you hide the user feature instance internals, but you can access them using User Feature Debug.

Before you begin:
  • To access the models used in this topic, import the Bounding_Box_Reference_000.3dxml and the Bounding_Box_Destination_000.3dxml files located in win_b64\startup\Knowledgeware\3D Templates Samples\Sample1.

  1. Expand the KnowledgeTemplates node and double-click the user feature, Bounding Sphere in this example.
    The User Feature Definition dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Properties tab and select Black Box in the Mode combo box.
  3. Click OK when done.
  4. Save and keep open.
  5. Open the destination product and tile vertically.
  6. Click Instantiation from Selection and select the user feature in the reference product.
  7. Click OK and select the inputs, Surface.1 in our example.
    The user feature is instantiated but its internals are not displayed in the tree.
  8. Click the instantiated user feature in the tree and click User Feature Debug . A warning message appears.
  9. Click OK.
    The instantiated user feature node expands and the user feature internals are displayed.
