Creating Chamfers as Local Modifiers

You can create a chamfer by removing or adding a flat section from a selected edge to create a beveled surface between the two original faces common to that edge.

About Chamfers as Local Modifiers
  1. From the Refine section of the action bar, click Chamfer, Local Modifier .
    The Chamfer.x dialog box appears. Default options are Length1/Angle in the Mode box and Tangency in the Propagation box.
    Important: Two chamfer capabilities are available in Functional Plastic Parts:
    • Chamfer, Local Modifier lets you add chamfers on features intrinsically. Because of its robustness it can be used more often. You can also add chamfers as feature modifiers.
    • Chamfer lets you add chamfers on functional solids. It is recommended to use it after the 3D shape is almost complete.
  2. Select the edge to be chamfered.


  3. From the Control type list, select the required control type.
  4. Specify the required parameters based on the selected control type.
  5. Select a propagation type.
  6. Click OK.
    The selected edge is chamfered.
