The index is an optimized database used to quickly fetch or search the objects. If
the process of updating the index ('indexing') is in progress with a large amount of new data,
you might notice a slight delay before the availability of the last modifications.
Tip:
To view the latest modification of your data, you can switch from index mode
to authoring mode. You can switch back to index mode to continue as required.
To turn on index mode, click
Preferences and select Use Index Mode. With Index mode
turned on, you can switch between Index mode and Authoring mode. Otherwise, the modes are
switched as required.
When you open an object, the active mode shows one of these icons:
Index mode is turned on. Click to switch to Authoring mode.
Authoring mode is turned on. Click to switch to Index mode.
Index mode is turned off.
When Index mode preference is turned off:

You cannot switch between Index and Authoring modes.
By default the mode is switched to authoring mode.
When Index mode preference is turned on:
Either or is shown.
You can click the icon to switch between authoring mode and index mode.
When Index mode preference is turned on:
is shown.
When Authoring mode is turned on:
is shown
while you update the object or its child.
The authoring mode switches to index mode after one minute after your last update and
is shown. To change the duration, select
Preferences and choose an option under Auto switch
from Authoring mode to Index mode. For more information, see Customizing Preferences.
Notes:
Hover over either or to see when
your data was last refreshed. If the last refresh duration exceeds the duration that you
specify in the Auto switch from Authoring mode to Index mode
option, it switches to index mode.
The ordering of objects in tree view and content view differ in authoring mode and index
mode.
You cannot turn on the Auto switch from Authoring mode to Index
mode in native apps.
Replace by Revision and
Replace by Latest Revision is unavailable in the index mode.
In authoring mode, bookmarks are displayed first. In index mode, the content appears as
per sorting.
