Creating Bead Fastener References

Bead fasteners are created along the length of a curve for the parts to be fastened. You can create different bead fastener references.

Create a Simple Bead Fastener Reference

A simple bead fastener is a special type of standard bead fastener. It is a bead fastener without any representation.

  1. Select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box is displayed.
  2. Expand the Fasteners node.
  3. Right-click the Simple Bead Fastener type and select Set attributes at creation.
    The Simple Bead Fastener dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the Fastener Specific Attributes tab.
  5. Modify the values of the fastener reference, the classification and shape parameters (the only available Shape Definition is 3D curve).
  6. Click OK to create the simple bead fastener reference.

No localization product is created and the simple bead instance has no visualization in the 3D so that the overall product is lighter.

Create a Bead Fastener Reference

You can create a bead fastener reference. It is possible to instantiate a standard bead reference several times.

  1. Select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box is displayed.
  2. Expand the Fasteners node.
  3. Right-click the Bead Fastener type and select Set attributes at creation.
    The Bead Fastener dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the Fastener Specific Attributes tab.
  5. Modify the values of the fastener reference, the classification and shape parameters (the only available Shape Definition is 3D curve).
    Tip: You can specify several closed profiles to create a multi-profile bead.
  6. Click OK to create the bead fastener reference.

Create a Unified Bead Fastener Reference

You can create a unified bead fastener reference without defining any localization product. Unified bead fasteners behave almost exactly like standard bead fasteners. The difference between unified beads and standard beads is that the 3D geometry of the fastener that is usually in the bead localization part is placed in the bead reference representation.

  1. Select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box is displayed.
  2. Expand the Fasteners node.
  3. Right-click the Unified Bead Fastener type and select Set attributes at creation.
    The Unified Bead Fastener dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the Fastener Specific Attributes tab.
  5. Modify the values of the fastener reference, the classification and shape parameters (the only available Shape Definition is 3D curve).
    Tip: You can specify several closed profiles to create a multi-profile bead.
  6. Click OK to create the unified bead fastener reference.

During the creation of a unified bead fastener no localization product is created and the information related to 3D Visualization is stored in the unified bead fastener itself.
