Generating a Short Report

You can use Short Report to generate status reports providing the list of the fasteners of given products and their representations. More specifically, the reports provide relevant information about broken links and help you identify issues. The information appears into tab-separated text files. You can print these reports.


Before you begin: Specify the directory in which you want to save the report file. To do so, select Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Multi Discipline Engineering > Fastening. For more information, see Report Directory.

About the Report of Fasteners
  1. In the work area, select the fasteners for which you need to generate a report.
    The elements and the parent of the highest level are selected.
    Tips:
    • You can also select the fasteners before entering the command by clicking Selection Wizard .
    • You can modify the selection at any time.
  2. From the Fastener Section of the action bar, click Short Report .
  3. Optional: Customize the report by selecting the options you need:
    • Long report: adds projection results, user-defined additional information, and fastener components information for each fastener.
    • Include comments: specifies that the report starts with the commented header block showing keywords description.
    • Ordered zones sorting: available with long reports only. Specifies how the fastener part specifications and projections are ordered in the report. If the option is selected, they appear in the order in which the spot fastener crosses the fastened parts. If cleared, no particular criterion is applied, that is, the order is the same as fastened parts order specified in the fastener connection.
    • Translate coded values: defines attribute values belonging to a predefined list of codes are translated according to the NLS (National Language Support) set-up.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Open the report file.



    For each fastener of the list, the report begins with an optional commented block containing the following information:

    • The list of keywords used in the report: keywords such as header, version, date.
    • The header section that contains the format version, the active product name, units, and issue date:
    • The fastener section that contains the name, technological and shape classifications.

      The column titles are set to the keywords described in the file report header "comment" block:

    • The long report contains additional information such as length and volume, projection results on joined parts.
