Adding an Attribute Link

You can add an attribute link parameter to a text or a flag note annotation during creation or edition of such an annotation type.

Important:

Attribute links are associative with PLM entities, you can thus reference the attributes of 3D shapes or 3D representations with the associativity and display attribute values in a Text or a Flag Note annotation.

The operating mode described below applies to Text or Flag Note annotations.

Before you begin:
  • Open a 3D shape containing at least a single annotation text. Create a length parameter.
  • Display the Parameters node along with the parameter value. For more information, see 3D Shape Infrastructure and Parameters Tree View in the Native Apps Preferences Guide.
  1. Double-click the annotation text to edit.
  2. Insert a blank space after the text in the Text Editor dialog box.
  3. Right-click the annotation in 3D area and select Insert Attribute Link.

Note: The annotation is not highlighted.

  4. In the Insert Attribute Link dialog box, the following options are available for selecting the object to which you want to link the text:
    • : Selection in the opened widgets (in the tree, from the work area, or from the drawing representation). By default, this option is selected.
    • : Selection from the search.

In the Insert Attribute Link dialog box, each line represents an attribute of the selected object or of an associated object.

  5. Select Parameters in the tree to access the 3D representation parameters.
The parameters are listed in the Insert Attribute Link dialog box.
  6. Select a text attribute. In our example, choose Length in the Attribute column.

The value specified for the length parameter is 50mm.

  7. Click OK.
50mm now appears both in the Text Editor dialog box and within the annotation text.
    Important:

You cannot edit the value directly in the Text Editor, although you can delete the value.

  8. Click OK in the Text Editor dialog box.
  9. To edit a parameter value, double-click the parameter in the tree (length in our example).
The Edit Parameter dialog box appears.
  10. Enter 70mm in the Edit Parameter dialog box, and click OK.
  11. Click Update.

The previous value 50 mm is replaced by 70mm in the annotation text.
