Generating a Presentation

You can generate a presentation text for 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features (FTA features) in an assembly.

A presentation text consists of adding a FTA feature that is duplicated from an existing FTA feature to a 3D shape instanced under a product. A link is automatically created between the original FTA feature and the duplicate copy of a FTA feature.

Important:
  • The duplication is not possible if the semantic standards used in the original feature and in the FTA feature duplicate are different.
  • When you generate a presentation text, the datum reference frame (ASME) and the datum system (ISO) features are not taken into account.
  • You can only edit the style and the position or orientation of a FTA feature duplicate.
  • Modifying or deleting the original FTA feature affects the FTA feature duplicate copy.

Before you begin: Open an assembly document.

About Annotations in Representation
  1. Create a text in a 3D Part.
  2. Specify the working context by double-clicking the root product.
The UI-activated root product appears highlighted in blue.
  3. Click Insert New 3D Shape .
The New Content dialog box appears.
  4. Add the required representation information, and click OK.
The representation is inserted under the root product.
  5. Double-click the created representation.
  6. Right-click the created text and select Generate presentation in active 3D shape .
The presentation text is created the under the Annotation Set node of the Notes.
    Important:
    • The green diamond (contextual symbol) appears on the 3D Shape representation icon in the tree , indicating that the 3D shape is involved in minimal context in the assembly.
    • The External References node appears under the 3D shape representation, containing links with involved geometries in the dimension. A green thumb on the surface icon indicates the status is OK for the link. By default, contextual links are hidden.
    • The Annotation Set node appears under the 3D shape representation containing the dimension. It contains an annotation plane and the text. A green thumb on the text icon indicates the status is OK and locked for the text.
    • To remove a presentation from the 3D shape, right-click it and select Remove presentation in active 3D shape in the context menu.
