Creating Coordinate Dimensions

You can create a coordinate dimension based on the coordinates of a selected point.

  1. Activate the Front View.x annotation plane.
  2. From the Annotation section of the action bar, click Coordinate Dimensions .
  3. In the Tools Palette, you have below choices.
    • 2D Coordinates lets you create 2D (x, y) coordinate dimensions in the active view axis system.
    • 3D Coordinates lets you create 3D (x, y, z) coordinate dimensions in the part/product axis system.
  4. Select the required point.

    The dimension is created.

    Important:

You can select the following elements:

    • a vertex
    • a point (on a curve, on a plane, a coordinate)
    • a line center
    • a point on a curve

  5. Drag the dimension to position it as you want.
The Numerical Properties displays the default format and precision applied to the coordinate dimension.

    Important:
    • Once a coordinate dimension is created, you cannot change its type (i.e. you cannot turn a 2D coordinate dimension into a 3D coordinate dimension, and vice-versa).
    • You can add new 3D leaders in the 3D area or switch current 2D leaders to 3D to position the leader outside the annotation plane. For more information, see Adding a 3D Leader.
