Editing a Capture

You can edit a capture and manage the capture options.

Annotations can be managed from existing captures in the document or its parent documents.


Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape containing captures.

  1. Double-click a capture in the tree.

    You can also select the corresponding view in the tree or the Views and Captures panel and click Edit Filter: XXX from the context toolbar, where XXX is the name of the selected view.

    Important: The selected capture is automatically set as current:

    From now, all the new annotations or annotation planes will be associated with this capture while it is current, even if you exit the edit mode.

    You can also set, or unset, a capture as current by right-clicking a capture in the 3D Tolerancing & Annotation app and selecting Set Current or Unset Current commands from the context menu. You can associate annotations and/or a view/annotation plane to one or several captures without editing them.

    The Edit Filter dialog box appears displaying the list of Filtered Elements.
  2. Select the required elements from the list of Filtered Elements.

    Note: You can also select the elements directly in the 3D area. In this case, the row containing the corresponding element is highlighted in the list of Filtered Elements.

    The selected elements are highlighted in the 3D area. The context toolbar appears. You can now change the visible properties of these elements.
  3. Click Activate/Deactivate visible propertyin the Edit Filter dialog box or click Hide selection/Display selection in the 3D area.
    The visible property is applied to the selected element. The pointer changes to filter copy. It allows you to copy the selected property and apply to the next selection.
  4. Optional: Apply the current visible property to the next selected elements.
    The visible property is applied to the selected elements.
  5. Optional: Click anywhere in the work area to stop the auto copy on the selections.
  6. Change the visualization mode in the Visualization Chooser.
    The filtered elements are displayed in the chosen visualization mode.
  7. Click OK.
  8. From the View section of the action bar, click Cutting Plane .
    A clipping plane is associated with the capture.
