About Model Version Design Effectivity

A manufacturing plan and its breakdown represent how a definition is to be produced. The manufacturing plan breakdown relies on its related model version design effectivity.

About Manufacturing Plans

Given the following scenario:

Model Version "Aircraft L A" is composed of (design effectivity):

  • Model Version "Cockpit A"
  • Model Version "Fuselage A"
  • Model Version "Tail A"

The subassembly Model Version "Cockpit A" can be produced in two different ways:

  • Manufacturing Plan "Cockpit A 1"
  • Manufacturing Plan "Cockpit A 2"

While the other sub-assemblies Model Version "Fuselage A" and Model Version "Tail A" each have only one way to be produced:

  • Manufacturing Plan "Fuselage A 1"
  • Manufacturing Plan "Tail A 1"

The Manufacturing Plan "Aircraft L A1" represents the way to produce the top assembly with "Regular" as the Manufacturing Intent.

If you create a revision of the Model Version "Aircraft L A," it becomes Model Version "Aircraft L B". The new top assembly revision has the same design effectivity as its previous revision. The new top Assembly Design effectivity has two OR designs:

  • Model Version "Cockpit B"
  • Model Version "Fuselage A" OR "Fuselage B"
  • Model Version "Tail A" OR Model Version "Tail B"

In addition, two new manufacturing plans are associated with this new revision:

  • Manufacturing Plan "Aircraft Model Version L B 2," derived from Manufacturing Plan "Aircraft Model Version L A 1" with a manufacturing intent of Regular
  • Manufacturing Plan "Aircraft Model Version L B 3," also derived from Manufacturing Plan "Aircraft Model Version L A 1" but with a manufacturing intent of Retrofit.

When a new manufacturing plan is derived from another, the breakdown is automatically copied. This means that the two new manufacturing plans, "Aircraft L B 2" and "Aircraft L B 3," are composed of:

  • Manufacturing Plan "Cockpit A 1" OR Manufacturing Plan "Cockpit A 2"
  • Manufacturing Plan "Fuselage A 1"
  • Manufacturing Plan "Tail A 1"
